Meet Kristin

Can you describe your background?

I am a lifelong Minnesotan and grew up in Richfield, where my mother was a nurse and my father was the third generation to work for the railroad. I earned a degree in Communications from Gustavus Adolphus College and now live in Maple Grove and work as an IT Consultant and Team Manager. In this role, I work every day to lead teams to get the job done on time, on budget, and do it together. My goal is to bring this collaborative style to St. Paul and to advocate for the common good of all Minnesotans.

What made you want to run for office?

In 2016, I ran and lost, but was truly speechless when we lost the presidency- we were on the edge of making a historic achievement that would fuel the dreams of women and young girls everywhere only to have that shattered. But instead of sitting on the sidelines, I decided to direct my energy into helping to organize the Women's March in Minnesota. In the end, we had 110,000 passionate activists together in the largest single day protest in Minnesota history. This event stoked the fires that drive me to serve and it was then and there that I decided to run again in 2018.

Can you describe your district?

Maple Grove is a vibrant, growing community with copious amounts of green space, wonderful space, and loads of amenities for people to enjoy. Osseo is the best hidden jewel of a small town, nestled amongst the Minneapolis suburbs. As these cities continue to grow and young families move into this ever-changing environment, our cities become more vibrant than ever. I feel privileged to be running in a blended district.
